PUP-COC Orgs claim the zeal

By: Jerome P. Lucas

The PUP-College of Communication’s celebration of its College week showcased how great mass communication students PUP has. Identified as the Certified Outstanding College of the university, COC claims that it has the most competitive students not only within the university but also among communication students in the country.

Professor Cabahug, the Chairperson of the Department of Journalism of COC stressed that “Hindi magkakaroon ng level three accreditation kung hind productive ang mga organization ng mga departamento ng COC. . . that was last year. That means productive tayo.“ Dr. Robert Soriano, the dean of the College of Communication was not able to give his statement for he is resting after his operation.

COC students’ appearance and participation in local and national television and other media forms has been recognized by the college. Several organizations of the college are the reason why such involvement happened. Those organization achieve high level of appreciation by their college mates and be the reason of distinguishing them as productive society among others. Cabahug reacted “Yung Movers and Motion, lagi kasi silang naiinvite sa labas eh, kaya marami silang raket. Kumikita talaga sila. Movers and Motion. Syempre susunod dun yun ano Teatro ata tapos pangatlo yung Ensemble. Yung maraming raket, yun yung productive.”

On the other hand, Gabriel Mallari, the President of the Student Council of the college believed that the more the organization performs the more productive they are. “Siguro, yung Teatro Komunikado na lang sasabihin ko, kasi sila yung lagi kong nakikitang may ginagawa dito. Di ba sila yung lagging ginagabi dito, sila yung laging may trainings dito,” said Gab. Other organizations, according to him, do not directly benefited their new members and their activities are loyally for their old members.

Meanwhile, Angelito Bautista, class president of BCR III-1D said that the most active organization in the college are Communication Society, Movers and Motion, and Teatro Kom. “Probably, Tkom is very related to bradcast unlike other organization, they do not engage in communication activities,” he insisted.

Although the three parties had given their opinion on whose organization claims the great zeal, the college still believe that without these and other organizations the college would not be as competitive as it is now. College of Communication continues its mission in developing communication skills in its students and in creating a benchmark in the field of communication. Future media practitioners are believed to be born in that college.
